Flood Elevation
Florence County's flood hazard rules go beyond the standard base flood elevation for what the zoning ordinance labels 'critical development.' Under County Code § 30-62(a)(4), those structures must be elevated to the 500-year flood elevation or the highest known historical flood elevation, whichever is greater, well above the routine one-foot freeboard other new construction must meet.
