Cottage Food Operations
Hamilton County's food-establishment permit law does not reach cottage food producers. Section 16-20-8-1 excludes an 'individual vendor that meets the requirements of IC 16-42-5.3 (Home Based Food Vendor)' from the definition of a regulated food establishment, so home-based sellers who qualify under that state law never need a Hamilton County Health Department permit.
