Fencing & Safety Requirements
Unincorporated Hillsborough County requires every private pool, hot tub and spa to sit inside a barrier at least 48 inches high, with no more than four inches of clearance under it and no opening that passes a four-inch sphere. Public pools need a barrier of at least six feet. Sec. 8-117 applies to every pool regardless of when it was built, and the Code Enforcement Board or a Special Magistrate enforces it.
