Setback Rules

Iredell County's Land Development Code sets minimum yard setbacks by zoning district in dimensional-requirement tables. In the county's baseline R-A Residential Agricultural District, Table 2.5 requires a 35-foot front yard, 15-foot side yard, 35-foot rear yard and 25-foot corner-lot setback for single-family homes, and the same figures apply in the R-20 Single-Family Residential District.

Structure Height Limits

In Iredell County's R-A Residential Agricultural District, every principal structure is capped at 35 feet, whether it is a single-family house, a two-family dwelling or any other use. Section 2.2.5 of the Land Development Code lifts that cap for public buildings, churches, schools, hospitals, water towers and similar structures, but only if they meet the North Carolina Building Code and the airport hazard rules in Section 4.6.
