Quiet Hours

Yelling, shouting, whistling, singing or similar noisemaking on public streets or private property is banned between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekends if it disturbs the quiet of nearby homes, offices, or hotels, under Sec. 26-63(a)(3).

(3)Yelling, shouting, whistling, singing, or other similar noisemaking on the public streets, or private property, between the hours of 10:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. on weekdays and 11:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. on weekends, so as to annoy or disturb the quiet, comfort or repose of persons in any office, or in any dwelling, hotel or other type of residence, or of persons in the vicinity.

Barking Dogs

In unincorporated Jackson County, a barking or howling animal becomes a public nuisance the moment it vocalizes more than 15 minutes without a break, or more than 30 minutes on and off, overnight between midnight and 6 a.m. Animal control does not need a decibel meter: officers act on a neighbor's complaint, issue a written warning first, and escalate to a citation if the noise continues.

Amplified Music & Outdoor Sound

Playing music or running any sound-producing machine loud enough to be heard 300 feet away is presumed a violation between 10 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekdays and 11 p.m. and 7 a.m. on weekends under Sec. 26-63(a)(1), whether the source is a home stereo, a vehicle, or clubhouse pool-area speakers.
