On Kaua'i (Kaua'i County), installing a solar energy system on any premises, building, or structure requires a separate solar permit from the Building Division before work begins. Kaua'i County Code Section 105.1.1 sets the requirement, and Section 110.1.1 subjects the completed installation to inspection by the building official before it can be used.
