Height Limits

Unincorporated Kendall County caps front-yard fences at four feet and lets side and rear yard fences run six to eight feet depending on the neighboring zoning. Kendall County Code Section 36-980 exempts the A-1 Agricultural District entirely and keeps corner lots clear under a separate 40-foot sight-triangle rule.

Material Restrictions

Kendall County bans barbed-wire and above-ground electric fences in residential districts and residential subdivisions, with one exception for the A-1 Agricultural and R-1 districts. Kendall County Code Section 36-980(a)(6) still allows underground electric pet-containment fencing everywhere in the unincorporated county.
