Historic-Cultural Monuments
Kenosha County designates landmarks and historic areas as a Historical Overlay District under County Code § 12.37.020, applying only in the unincorporated towns where county zoning governs, not inside the City of Kenosha or the county's villages, which run their own preservation rules. A seven-member Historical Preservation Commission recommends designations and must issue a Certificate of Appropriateness before any exterior work proceeds.
