Unincorporated McHenry County landmarks and historic districts are nominated under County Code § 15.40.080. Any person may file a nomination with the McHenry County Planning Department, and once a nomination is accepted for review, the Building and Zoning Department cannot issue a building or demolition permit for that property while the case is pending.
