In unincorporated Stanislaus County it is unlawful for any itinerant vendor to sell property, food, or services, or solicit orders at a private residence, home, or apartment unless the occupant asked for the visit first. County Code Section 6.68.090 sets this no-knock rule, and Section 6.68.020 additionally requires every itinerant vendor to hold a Tax Collector-issued permit before working anywhere in the county.
