Tangipahoa Parish requires major subdivisions and special use residential commercial developments to preserve a 25-foot perimeter buffer of undisturbed green space. Trees inside that buffer, or on individual lots within it, may only be selectively removed for reasons of species, disease or decay, and the planning department must pre-approve the specific tree removal plan before any cutting starts.
