Auto Repair on Residential Property

Vehicle repair, painting and auto detailing shops cannot operate as a home occupation anywhere in unincorporated Walla Walla County. Walla Walla County Code Section 17.08.260(J)(7) lists 'vehicle repair, painting or auto detailing shops' among the uses a home occupation permit may never cover, and Section 17.08.261(J)(6) repeats the same ban for the larger Type II permit tier.

Unincorporated Walla Walla County does not write its own tow-truck rules; WWCC 10.34.010 adopts 26 numbered sections of the state vehicle-towing statute, RCW 46.55, by reference for abandoned, unauthorized and junk-vehicle tows. The county routes towing hearings to its own District Court, lets that court waive filing fees, and applies the 2021 Seattle v. Long decision when reviewing towing fees and charges.
