Food Truck Permits

Every mobile food unit operating in unincorporated Walla Walla County must carry mechanical refrigeration sized to hold all potentially hazardous food, and Section 8.04.012 bars using ice chests for that purpose. A unit that skips a commissary must still meet the full sink and refrigeration standards of WAC 246-215, keep all food preparation inside the unit, and the Community Health Department's Health Officer can add requirements for food safety.

Walla Walla County's peddler and hawker license does not cover food carts or sidewalk stands: licensed food vendors are exempt under Code § 5.06.020.B.9, and sidewalk refreshment stands run by minors are exempt outright under § 5.06.020.B.11. Mobile food units instead need a Community Health Department permit costing $200.00 to $535.00 a year.
