Galt enforces a juvenile curfew prohibiting minors under 18 from being in public places between 10 PM and 5 AM without a parent, guardian, or authorized adult, subject to standard exceptions for employment, emergencies, and parental errands.
Galt Municipal Code Chapter 9 contains a juvenile curfew ordinance consistent with Sacramento County standards. Minors under age 18 may not remain in, about, or upon any public street, alley, park, playground, or public place between 10 PM and 5 AM. Recognized exceptions include: the minor is accompanied by a parent, legal guardian, or responsible adult 18 or older with parental consent; the minor is traveling to or from a lawful employment activity; the minor is responding to an emergency; the minor is returning directly home from a school, religious, or civic activity; or the minor is engaged in interstate travel. Curfew violations may result in citation to the minor and may also expose parents to parental responsibility liability under California Welfare and Institutions Code section 625. Curfew is also enforced in city parks under park rules.
Infraction citation typically 100 dollars for the minor. Repeat offenses may escalate to misdemeanor under Welfare and Institutions Code section 625.
