Orem, UT Curfew Laws: Juvenile Curfew (2026)

Orem City Code Section 9-2-3 sets two curfew bands. the following day. m. on Saturday or Sunday. Subsection D makes it unlawful for a parent, guardian, or other person with care and custody of a minor to knowingly allow the minor to violate the curfew. Subsection E lists eight exceptions, including a minor accompanied by a responsible adult, running an errand at a parent's direction without detour, working a job that requires presence on the street, handling a genuine emergency, traveling through the city in a car on an interstate trip, attending a supervised religious, municipal, social, or school function, standing on the sidewalk in front of the minor's own home or a non-complaining neighbor's home, or exercising First Amendment rights such as religious exercise, speech, or assembly.

Subsection F sets enforcement: an offending minor is subject to arrest or citation and is returned to a parent or guardian's custody, and a parent who knowingly refuses to appear and retrieve the minor after a peace officer's order is itself a separate offense. The definitions in subsection A, including "emergency errand" and "public places," narrow how broadly the curfew reaches, covering parking lots, restaurants, stores, and common areas of apartment complexes and offices.
