Full Breakdown

South Jordan City Code § 9.08.010 sets two nighttime curfews for minors in sidewalks, streets, alleys, and public places, including stores, restaurants, and parking lots. Minors under 16 may not remain or loiter there between 11:00 p.m. and 5:00 a.m.; minors under 18 face a tighter window, 1:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. Exceptions cover minors accompanied by a parent or responsible adult, traveling to or from lawful employment, running an emergency errand, attending a religious, school, or civic event, or within the immediate vicinity of home. A violating minor is subject to arrest and citation and is returned to a parent or guardian's custody; parents and businesses that knowingly allow a minor to violate the curfew are themselves in violation.
