Section 425-18, part of Chapter 425's park-conduct rules, states: "No person shall be in any park during the hours the park is closed. The parks are closed from sunset to sunrise except where permitted activities are taking place or otherwise designated by City Council. Closing hours will be posted at all parks." Because sunset and sunrise shift through the year, the closure is a floating curfew rather than a fixed clock time, and the City posts the current hours at park entrances so officers and the public can verify compliance on any given night. City Council or the Director of Parks and Recreation can authorize exceptions, most commonly for permitted special events under § 425-20 that run past sunset, such as concerts or festivals with an approved use permit.

Enforcement follows § 425-23: the Mayor's designated supervisory employees, including police and Parks and Recreation Bureau staff, may issue citations for chapter violations and can order anyone found in a closed park to leave immediately, even without a formal citation.
