Alpharetta, GA Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

The City of Alpharetta's park rules and regulations, adopted under Sec. 32-4(a) of the Code of Ordinances, assign different closing times to four park categories rather than one citywide curfew. Active parks, the city's larger programmed recreation sites, open at 5:00 a.m. and close at 11:00 p.m. The Greenway, its greenway access parks, and the AlphaLoop close at dusk, as do the smaller neighborhood parks scattered through residential areas. Downtown parks, including the plazas and green spaces around City Center, stay open latest, closing at midnight to match evening activity in that district.

Sec. 32-4(b) folds the Greenway system and the AlphaLoop into the same definition of park for every purpose of the section, so the dusk closing applies along the entire trail corridor and not just at trailheads. The full posted schedule for every park lives on the city's website, and Sec. 32-4(d) requires the director of recreation, parks, and cultural services to post the hours on all-weather signage at each site; a missing sign is a public-notice failure, not a defense to a citation. Enforcement runs through Sec.

32-4(c): city law enforcement officers, city officials, and other city officers are directed to enforce compliance, which in practice means Alpharetta Department of Public Safety officers patrolling parks after posted hours. Sec. 32-4(c)(3) makes any violation of the article a misdemeanor, punishable under the general penalty schedule of Sec. 1-8, or by up to 45 days of supervised labor on city streets, sidewalks, parks, or other public works in place of a fine. Because the rule sits in the Code of Ordinances rather than the Unified Development Code, it applies uniformly across every park the city owns, regardless of zoning district.
