Canyon County, ID Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Article 1 of Chapter 4, Public Ways and Property, governs the Canyon County park system under authority granted by Idaho Code sections 31-714, 31-828 and 63-908, originally adopted by Ordinance 83-006 in 1983 and amended by Ordinance 91-004 in 1991 and Ordinance 16-020 in 2016. Section 04-01-05 gives the director of the Canyon County Department of Parks, Cultural and Natural Resources authority to appoint a park manager for each county park area and to designate park managers or department employees to be deputized as deputy sheriffs, letting them enforce both state law and county ordinances inside park boundaries.

Under Section 04-01-09(1), the park manager, not the county commissioners, sets and posts the actual day-use hours for each specific park, so the closing time can differ from one county park to the next; a park manager can also close an area early or deny entry once it reaches capacity under Section 04-01-09(2), subject to the director's final approval. Section 04-01-07 requires any additional rules a park manager recommends, once adopted by the waterways committee or county commissioners, to be posted conspicuously in the park and made available to the public from park staff.

Because this article only reaches property the county park system itself owns and operates, it applies to parks in unincorporated Canyon County; it has no effect inside Caldwell, Nampa, Middleton, Greenleaf, Melba, Notus, Wilder, Parma or Star, each of which sets its own park hours under its own municipal code.
