Clifton, NJ Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 351-2A(12) targets vehicles left in Clifton's parks after dark. It first bars leaving a vehicle standing or parked at night in established parking areas or elsewhere in the park areas, then sets the specific curfew window: no motor vehicle may be parked in the park areas from half an hour after sunset until sunrise, except as otherwise permitted. Because the code enumerates this as one of the general Prohibitions in § 351-2, it functions as Clifton's de facto after-hours park curfew for anyone arriving by car, separate from § 351-4A, which lets the City post individual opening and closing hours by resolution for each park.

The permit exception in (12) lets the City authorize overnight parking for a specific event or use, and § 351-6 gives Clifton's agents and employees, including the Police Department under § 351-6D, authority to eject a vehicle's occupants or the vehicle itself from the park for violating this chapter. Officers may also seize property used in a violation under § 351-6C, which can reach a vehicle left in a closed park after the sunset-plus-thirty-minutes cutoff.
