Coconut Creek, FL Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 15-23 of the Coconut Creek Code, titled Operating Policies, puts park hours in the hands of the director of parks and recreation. With the approval of the city manager, the director designates the hours of operation for each city park and recreational facility, and those hours must be clearly posted at each facility. The director can extend or shorten the hours for any park or any portion of one. The code rule itself is short: no person shall enter or remain in any park after park closing hours without a permit. The permit is written permission from the director under the definition in § 15-21.

Section 15-23(b) lets the director close any section or part of any park or recreational facility to the public at any time and for any interval. Under § 15-23(c), any person found violating the article is either ejected or arrested by a public safety officer. The article defines a public safety officer as a member of the public safety department authorized to enforce criminal and traffic laws and ordinances within the city.

Other rules in the same chapter key off closing time. Section 15-25(c)(3) says no vehicle can remain on park property after closing hours without a permit from the director, and § 15-25(c)(2) requires lights on any vehicle left standing at night in a park outside designated parking areas. Swimming or bathing in designated water is allowed only at hours posted by the director under § 15-24(a)(2). A group that wants to use a park after hours, for example for an evening event, applies for a permit under § 15-22, filed at least three days before the use. Because each park's hours are posted rather than codified, the sign at the entrance controls.
