Manchester, CT Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Article I of Chapter 292, adopted in its current form on February 8, 2005, lists 19 specific Town-owned properties that close to public use daily between 10:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m.: Center Springs Park, Charter Oak Park, Center Park, the Case Mountain recreation area, the Globe Hollow swimming area, Saulter's Pond pool and basketball court, the Mount Nebo recreation area, all public school grounds, all swimming pool areas, all Town cemeteries, the Nike Site recreation area, the Oak Grove nature center, Northwest Park, Union Pond Park, the Hillstown Road and Kennedy Road recreation areas, the Hockanum River Linear Park, the New State Road recreation area, and Robertson Park.

The ordinance carves out anyone using a lighted tennis or basketball court, or attending a Town-sponsored athletic, recreational, meeting or cultural event, from being in violation. A separate, narrower parking curfew applies to Town-owned parking lots and areas: no parking is allowed between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 a.m., though the Downtown Special Services District may designate spaces within its own lots for unrestricted overnight parking, and Town-owned vehicles and Town employees on duty are exempt. Section 292-2 ties enforcement to the Code's general penalty provision at Section 1-2, which fines violations up to $100 per day when the violated section sets no fine of its own, with each day of continued violation counted as a separate offense.
