Novi, MI Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

"Park" and "park area" cover any public park, lakeshore park, recreation area or recreation facility the department of parks and recreation operates (§ 25-56), so the curfew applies citywide to Lakeshore Park, neighborhood parks and other city recreation land alike. Absent a posted variance, gates close at 10:00 p.m. and reopen at 8:00 a.m. (§ 25-57(a)), and simply being present in a park during the closed hours is itself the violation under § 25-57(b); no additional misconduct is required. City-owned beaches run on a separate, shorter season: they are open only from Memorial Day through Labor Day between 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m., or as otherwise posted (§ 25-65(3)), a tighter window than the general park curfew.

The curfew dovetails with the vehicle rules in the same article: it is separately unlawful to leave a vehicle standing or parked in a park during the hours the park is closed, and the city may immediately remove and impound any vehicle left in violation (§ 25-62(4), (8)). Enforcement runs through the Novi Police Department and the department of parks and recreation, and violations of this article carry the general penalties set out in Novi City Code § 1-11, the same civil-infraction/misdemeanor scheme Chapter 25 applies to other park offenses (§ 25-68(a)).
