Parsippany-Troy Hills, NJ Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Section 290-15 A of the Parsippany-Troy Hills Township Code closes every park between 30 minutes after sundown and 30 minutes before sunrise. The only carve-out in that subsection is permitted activities, meaning a user holds a permit from the Department under § 290-8 for the days and hours requested. The closing time follows the sun instead of a fixed clock hour.

The word park has a wide reach. Section 290-7 defines PARKS as parks, parkways, park areas, golf courses, ball fields, reservations, recreation areas and all other properties situated in the Township under the jurisdiction of the Department of Recreational Services.

Being in a closed park is its own prohibition. Section 290-9 D says that, except when pursuant to a permit, no person or vehicle shall be in the parks when closed, except in an emergency and then after notifying a police officer or Department representative. The wording covers every person and vehicle, so this is a closing rule for the park, not an age-based curfew for minors.

Subsection B adds a second kind of closure. The Township can close a park, or a portion of it, to the public when the Recreation Programs are in session, or when deemed necessary in the sole discretion of the Business Administrator, for other Township programs. In those cases signs are posted stating that the park, or the portion, is closed. Subsection A was amended 7-16-2019 by Ord. No. 2019:37, and Subsection B was amended 1-11-2022 by Ord. No. 2021:30.

Permit holders who need evening or overnight access request it on the § 290-8 application, which asks for the days and hours for which the permit is desired and the park or portion of it.
