Vineland, NJ Curfew Laws: Park Curfew (2026)

Vineland City Code Section 507-8 sets the legal framework for when the City's public parks are open. Subsection A requires that, except for unusual and unforeseen emergencies, every park stay open to the public every day of the year during hours the Recreation Commission designates; those hours are not fixed citywide by ordinance but must be posted at each individual park for public information and are set from time to time by Commission resolution. Subsection B gives the Commission separate authority to declare any section or part of a park closed to the public at any time and for any interval, whether temporary or on a regular, stated schedule, and either entirely or only for certain uses, whenever it finds that reasonably necessary.

That closing power sits alongside the related vehicle restriction in Section 507-11, which bars parking any motor vehicle in a park area from a half hour after sunset until sunrise except as otherwise permitted, giving Vineland an after-dark enforcement tool even where a park's posted hours have not formally changed. Anyone remaining in a closed area, or violating the posted hours, is subject to the same enforcement structure that covers the rest of Chapter 507's park rules: the Recreation Commission and park attendants, as well as the Vineland Police Department, can eject a violator under Section 507-10, and a conviction is punishable under Section 507-13's cross-reference to Chapter 1, Article II, General Penalty.
