662 governs data centers countywide in the unincorporated area. Subsection C requires a special use permit (SUP) for any data center or battery energy storage system, and any later expansion of the site area or accessory equipment area triggers a new SUP application rather than an administrative amendment. Subsection E sets numeric development standards meant to preserve the county's rural and agricultural character: the site is capped at 1,000 acres total unless the Board of Zoning Adjustment approves a modification based on site-specific characteristics tied to preserving rural character, natural features, or shared agricultural use, and lot coverage from all hard surfaces, structures and appurtenant equipment cannot exceed 60% of the parcel.

Structures and equipment are capped at 40 feet in height measured from adjacent grade, including roof-mounted mechanical equipment, though the BZA may approve additional height to accommodate slopes without grading or added screening if it will not harm nearby land uses. Location standards steer siting away from prime farmland disturbance, steep slopes of 15% or more, and environmentally sensitive lands such as floodways and wetlands, and push applicants toward brownfield sites and screening from off-site view. A primary structure is required before installing a standalone modular data center (SMDC), and every SMDC must be screened with landscaping, opaque fencing, or a decorative wall at least as tall as the SMDC; chain-link screening is not allowed.

Applications go to the Zoning and Codes Department, and the review considers visual impact, wildlife habitat, cultural and historical features, infrastructure impact, aviation/FAA concerns, and the applicant's decommissioning and bonding plan.
