Full Breakdown

Town of Babylon Code § 86-8 bars tying, mooring or parking a vessel at any Town-owned or Town-maintained bulkhead, dock, pier or wharf without first getting a docking permit from the Commissioner of Parks, Recreation and Cultural Affairs, except for emergency vessel repairs or a medical emergency. The same permit requirement extends to owners of vacant residential-zoned property who let others dock boats there. Permits require a sworn Town Clerk application, Commissioner of Planning and Development sign-off on the structure's safety and parking, and expire every December 31 under § 86-12.

Violations & Fines

Docking, mooring or parking a vessel at a Town facility, or letting one be docked on vacant residential property, without the required permit violates Town of Babylon Code § 86-8 and is enforceable under the boat chapter's general penalties.
