Pasco County enforces erosion and sediment control under Land Development Code Chapter 900 in conjunction with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (FDEP) NPDES Construction Generic Permit (CGP). Any land-disturbing activity requires erosion control BMPs including silt fencing along downslope perimeters, stabilized construction entrances to prevent track-out, inlet protection on storm drains, and temporary seeding of disturbed areas. Projects disturbing one acre or more (or part of a larger common plan) must file a Notice of Intent with FDEP and maintain a Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) on-site. Disturbed areas must be stabilized within 14 days of temporary inactivity. The county's sandy soils and heavy summer rains (June-September thunderstorms, hurricane season) make prompt stabilization critical. Discharge of turbid water to waters of the state violates F.S.
