Lauderhill, FL Fence Regulations: Height Limits (2026)

Section 5.18.5 of the Lauderhill Land Development Regulations sets the baseline height limits for hedges, walls and fences in residential districts. In the front street setback area, which runs the full width of the lot on both interior and corner lots, the maximum height is four feet. On corner lots, hedges, fences and walls may rise to six feet along the remaining property lines outside that front setback. A homeowner wanting to go higher has one administrative path: Section 5.18.6 lets the Planning and Zoning Director approve a fence up to eight feet in a residential development where vision-clearance requirements for traffic safety are met and the fence satisfies Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design standards.

Non-residential property carries a different ceiling. Section 5.18.9 prohibits any hedge, fence or wall along or adjacent to a lot line on non-residentially zoned property from exceeding eight feet. Corner visibility gets its own, stricter rule regardless of zoning: Section 5.18.14 caps any fence, wall or hedge at two feet above the street grade within twenty-five feet of the intersection of any street lines or their projected extension, preserving a clear sight triangle for drivers and pedestrians. Section 5.18.7 measures every height limit from existing grade at the fence or wall's location. Privacy walls up to six feet, or eight feet where a rear lot line abuts another single-family lot, are separately allowed under Section 5.18.13 in side, rear or front yards when designed to shield bathrooms or bedrooms from view.
