Parker, CO Fence Regulations: Height Limits (2026)

Section 13.08.090(n)(3) of the Parker Municipal Code sets fence and wall height inside the Land Development Ordinance's development standards chapter. On residential lots, a fence or wall cannot exceed six feet anywhere on the property, but any fence in front of the primary structure is capped at forty-two inches so front yards stay open to view. Corner lots get their own rule: where a house has building walls facing two streets, the Town treats the second frontage as a secondary front building wall, and fences taller than forty-two inches cannot sit within six feet of the back of the sidewalk on that side, the ordinance's version of a visibility triangle.

The same six-foot setback from the secondary sidewalk applies to through lots with frontage on two parallel streets. Where a lot fronts an arterial street or higher classification and the landscape buffer between the property and the street is less than twenty-five feet wide, solid fences and walls are capped at eight feet; with a wider buffer or a lower-classification street, the six-foot residential cap controls. Mixed-use and nonresidential properties follow a separate table: six feet for Public, Institutional, Civic or Commercial uses and eight feet for Industrial uses, and the Planning Director can approve an increase to eight or twelve feet respectively when the fence screens an approved loading or storage area and is architecturally tied to the building. Behind the front building wall, commercial fences may reach eight feet under Site Plan review pursuant to Section 13.03.040(p).
