Miami-Dade County Code Section 33-11 limits fences and walls to 4 feet in front or side street setback areas and 8 feet between the building line and other property lines. Safe sight distance triangles limit height to 2.5 feet near driveways.
Miami-Dade County Code Section 33-11 establishes fence and wall height limits. In required front or side street setback areas, walls and hedges cannot exceed 4 feet. Between the building line and other property lines (side and rear), walls and hedges cannot exceed 8 feet. Within 10 feet of a driveway edge leading to a public right-of-way, or within the safe sight distance triangle, fences and walls cannot exceed 2.5 feet if they obstruct vision. Tennis court fences may reach 14 feet if conforming to accessory use setbacks. All fences in Miami-Dade must meet Florida Building Code wind load requirements for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone. Hurricane-rated fencing is recommended for all installations.
Non-compliant fences must be removed or modified. Violations enforced under Chapter 8CC code enforcement. Fines accrue daily. A lien may be placed on the property if violations are not corrected.
