Miami Gardens regulates fence heights under Β§34-446 of the Code of Ordinances. Front yard fences are limited to 3.5 feet, side and rear yard fences to 6 feet, and sight triangle areas to 2.5 feet.
Section 34-446 of the Miami Gardens Code of Ordinances establishes fence height restrictions. Front yard fences may not exceed 3.5 feet in height. Side and rear yard fences may be up to 6 feet. Fences within the safe sight distance triangle at intersections and driveways may not exceed 2.5 feet. Tennis court fences may be up to 14 feet if they conform to accessory use setbacks. Height is measured from the average elevation of the finished building site to the top of the fence. No fence may be constructed within 3 feet of a fire hydrant or emergency apparatus. All fence materials must comply with HVHZ wind-load requirements.
Fence height violations are enforced through Code Enforcement. A notice of violation provides a compliance deadline. Non-compliance results in fines starting at $250 per day through Special Master proceedings. Unpermitted fences may need to be removed or modified.
