Chain link must be two-inch diamond weave nonclimbable type with top rail and heavy galvanized material. Cloth, fabric, canvas, silt screens, mesh, plastic cross mats, or similar material affixed to wire or chain link fences must be properly maintained; failure to maintain is a violation. Concrete block walls are common in South Florida. All fence materials must meet Florida Building Code wind load requirements for the High Velocity Hurricane Zone. Pool safety barriers may be screened patio, wooden fence, wire fence, rock wall, concrete block, or materials blending with the architecture per Section 33-12.
Non-compliant materials must be replaced. Improperly maintained fabric or mesh on fences is a code violation. HVHZ non-compliance may require removal and reinstallation with approved materials.
