Long Branch, NJ Filming & Production: Location Permits (2026)

Section 233-3 bars filming anywhere in the city, public or private property, right-of-way, or residence, without a permit from the Special Events Coordinator, applied for at least five working days before the first filming day; the Business Administrator can waive that lead time if approvals and required submittals, including neighbor notice, are already in hand. No permit covers more than five consecutive days at one location, and total filming there cannot exceed ten days a year unless the production qualifies as a major motion picture (§ 233-3B).

Issuance requires proof of substantial insurance, including $2,000,000 general liability aggregate, $1,000,000 personal and advertising injury and per-occurrence limits, $1,000,000 commercial auto liability, and a $10,000,000 umbrella policy, plus workers' compensation coverage (§ 233-4A(1)-(6)). Applicants post a $25,000 cash or maintenance bond, refunded within seven days if the site is left undamaged and debris-free (§ 233-4A(10)), and must notify property owners within 200 feet of the filming site by personal service or certified mail (§ 233-4A(12)). Fees layer on top of the $150 basic permit: $750 per filming day, $1,500 per day for major motion pictures, and $500 per day for overnight parking or use of city property (§ 233-11).

Permits must be available on-site for inspection at all times (§ 233-3C), and copies go to the New Jersey Motion Picture and Television Commission and city police, fire, and building departments before filming starts (§ 233-9).
