Long Branch, NJ Parking Rules: Snow Removal Parking Rules (2026)

Section 325-3B(1) triggers an automatic parking ban the moment snow accumulation covers a street or highway on any block listed in Schedule I (§ 325-25); no separate emergency declaration has to be issued for those streets, the ban is self-executing on snowfall. That prohibition doesn't lift when the snow stops falling: it remains in effect after the snow has ceased until the streets have been plowed sufficiently that parking will not interfere with the normal flow of traffic (§ 325-3B(2)). Beyond the Schedule I streets, the City's Office of Emergency Management director can independently declare an emergency and order EMERGENCY NO PARKING signs posted anywhere weather, accidents, or other hazards require it, and any vehicle already parked before the signs go up must still be moved once the operator or owner is notified (§ 325-3B(3)).

An unoccupied vehicle left parked in violation during a declared emergency is deemed a nuisance, and any peace officer may have it towed at the owner's expense (§ 325-3B(4)). Separately, Chapter 297's Snow and Ice Removal article requires every property owner, occupant, or tenant to clear snow and ice from abutting sidewalks, or cover ice too frozen to remove with sand or ashes, within 12 hours of daylight after it falls or forms; if it isn't cleared, the Public Works Director can have it removed and bill the cost as a lien on the property (§§ 297-50, 297-52).
