Long Branch, NJ Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

City Code § 345-11J, part of the 'Additional provisions' article of the Zoning chapter applying citywide, states that no front yard may be used for open storage of boats, vehicles or any other equipment, carving out only an exception for vehicular parking on a driveway, expressly excluding parking lots. Where open storage areas have secured a permit from the City Council, the code requires them to be properly landscaped. Any boat, recreation vehicle or other stored equipment allowed under that permit must sit no closer than 10 feet to the rear or side lot line of the principal building, and the same subsection separately bars storing any boat, recreation vehicle or equipment in a public street at all.

Because the rule sits in § 345-11, the article of general zoning provisions that applies to every residential and business district in the City, it operates on top of the district-specific yard and setback tables found later in the chapter. A related provision in the same article, § 345-11P, requires any detached accessory structure or use, which would include a shed used to shelter stored equipment, to sit outside the front yard and to observe the same rear-yard setback that applies to accessory structures generally, at least 10 feet unless a schedule states otherwise.

Property owners who want to keep an RV or boat visible from the street therefore need either a driveway space or a City Council storage permit with landscaping, and even then must keep the unit off any public roadway.
