Freehold, NJ Parking Rules: RV & Boat Parking (2026)

Subsection F of Section 18.72.050, in Title 18 (Zoning) of the Freehold Borough Code, is a front yard rule. It says no front yard area shall be used for open storage of boats, recreational vehicles or any other equipment. The text expressly counts driveways in the front yard as part of the front yard area, so a paved driveway does not create a loophole for a boat on a trailer or a camper.

The subsection carves out one exception: vehicular parking on driveways. To fit inside it, a vehicle has to meet every part of the description. It must be an automobile or a truck. It must be currently registered. It must be driven on a regular basis. And it must be parked on the driveway, not on the lawn or another part of the front yard. Boats and recreational vehicles are named on the prohibited side of the sentence, so they do not become permitted just because they sit on pavement. A car or truck with lapsed registration, or one that sits undriven, also falls outside the exception as written.

The phrase "any other equipment" widens the rule beyond boats and recreational vehicles. The subsection does not list what counts, which leaves the category open.

The word "open" matters too. The subsection regulates open storage in the front yard area and does not speak to items kept inside a building.

A second sentence covers sales. Automobiles or trucks shall not be displayed for sale within the front yard area of any property except on driveways. A Freehold resident selling a car may show it on the driveway but not on the front lawn.

Subsection F is limited to the front yard. The quoted text sets no rule for side or rear yards and states no weight or length threshold.
