Grand Prairie, TX Filming & Production: Production Noise (2026)

Sec. 17-90(b) of the Grand Prairie Filming Guidelines requires on-site approval from the city manager before a production uses exterior lighting, power generators, or any other noise-producing or light-producing equipment; the same section requires the applicant to submit a report listing the vehicles and equipment to be used, the proposed hours of use, and the proposed parking locations, all subject to city manager approval. Sec. m. on Saturday, Sunday and holidays. Sec. 17-92 requires the applicant to give each owner, tenant and resident in the affected neighborhood a written description of the production schedule and to submit their signed comments, addresses and phone numbers with the permit application; the city manager weighs that feedback, along with the noise and lighting plan, in deciding whether to grant, condition or deny the permit.

Because loud generators and set lighting are the two complaint drivers named specifically in the ordinance, the city manager can attach hour or equipment restrictions tighter than the citywide default, or refuse approval outright, as a condition of any permit issued under Sec. 17-85.
