Sedona Fire District adopted the 2018 International Wildland Urban Interface Code requiring defensible space around all buildings β 100 feet of fuel modification or to the lot line, whichever is less.
Defensible space must be maintained at least annually. Required actions include removal of slash, snags, dead trees, ladder fuels, and thinning of live trees to reduce fire spread potential. The code applies to all new and existing buildings, remodels and improvements, and new subdivisions within the SFD's wildland-urban interface β most of Sedona. Owners can use the SFD WUI Parcel Search to confirm whether their address falls within WUI boundaries.
Notice-and-correct enforcement; failure to abate after notice triggers city/district abatement with cost recovery as a lien on the property.
