A fire ring must be at least 15 feet from any structure and have a cleared five-foot diameter outside the burn area. Only clean charcoal, coal, manufactured fire logs, or untreated dry wood may be used. The fire must be attended at all times with extinguishment means available, and the county fire marshal may suspend recreational burning during drought or red-flag conditions.
Unattended, oversized, or noncompliant recreational fires can be ordered extinguished and may trigger county code citations, civil penalties, and cost recovery for fire department response.
