Benton County, OR Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

BCC § 15.010(1)(c) sits in the county's park conduct rules and prohibits igniting or discharging 'any fireworks as defined in ORS 480.110' anywhere on a county site, the code's term for any park, land, cemetery or campground the Natural Areas and Parks Department manages, unless a person first gets written permission from the Director or a designee. The county code does not contain a separate, general fireworks ordinance covering private property across unincorporated Benton County; this is the only fireworks-specific local rule in BCC Chapter 15 through 41.

The park fireworks ban sits alongside other public-safety restrictions in the same subsection, including a ban on discharging weapons (§ 15.010(1)(b)) and on unauthorized fires (§ 15.010(1)(a)), so a Fourth of July celebration on county land that involves both an open flame and fireworks can draw citations under multiple clauses at once. The Director's written-permission mechanism is the same one used throughout § 15.010 for special uses; a person seeking to set off fireworks at a county park event would typically pair that request with the Special Use Permit process in § 15.105. Violations of Chapter 15 are declared a nuisance and enforced by County Counsel under § 15.305.
