Jackson, TN Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

Municipal Code § 7-401 lets seasonal fireworks retailers operate in the City of Jackson only during two set windows, June 20 through July 5 and December 18 through January 2, each day from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m., a schedule that took effect June 20, 2025. Actual use of fireworks is narrower still: June 30 through July 5 and December 28 through January 2, generally between 11:00 a.m. and 10:00 p.m., with special late-night carve-outs from 11:00 a.m. on July 4 until 12:30 a.m. on July 5 and from 11:00 a.m. on December 31 until 12:30 a.m. on January 1.

Seasonal sales lots are allowed only on a temporary basis in zoning districts where general retail is a permitted use. A vendor must apply to the city planning department for a temporary use permit and submit a $500.00 fee with the application, along with proof of a state fire marshal permit and a valid Tennessee business license; every applicable city and state fire code provision must be satisfied before the permit issues, and each permit covers only one season. The local fire marshal or designee administers compliance and may revise the seasonal sales regulations to track state and local law changes.

The mayor may place Jackson on the state fire marshal's public list of jurisdictions that allow seasonal retail fireworks sales, letting vendors skip the separate step of obtaining a signed statement from the city.
