Jackson, TN Parking Rules: Commercial & Oversized Vehicles (2026)

Section 15-812, in the Title 15 parking chapter, sets two separate bans. First, no truck "larger in size than a panel truck" may be parked or left standing on any sidewalk, street, alley or other public area in the City of Jackson, except for the time actually needed to load, unload and transact the business at hand; the code puts the duty squarely on both the vehicle's operator and its owner to move it to privately provided off-street parking when it isn't in use. Second, no trailer may be parked or left standing on any public sidewalk, street, alley or place unless it stays attached to a tractor, truck, automobile or other motor vehicle with enough power to move and haul it away quickly, meaning a detached trailer cannot simply be left on a public way at all.

Because this sits in the general Motor Vehicles and Traffic title rather than in the separately published Zoning Ordinance, it applies citywide as a parking rule and is enforced by the Jackson Police Department alongside the rest of Title 15's parking provisions, including the vehicle-impoundment remedy in § 15-114 for vehicles left in violation.
