Linden, NJ Fire Regulations: Fireworks (2026)

1, amended August 18, 2020 by Ord. No. 64-33, makes it unlawful to sell, offer for sale, possess, use or discharge fireworks in Linden without a valid permit, but carves out an exception for anyone 16 or older to lawfully buy, possess and use sparkling devices and novelties, limited to hand-held or ground-based sparklers, snakes and glow worms, plus trick noisemakers such as party poppers, snappers and drop pops. Anyone else who wants to discharge fireworks, a municipality, a religious, fraternal or civic organization, a fair association, an amusement park, or other group, must apply in writing to the City Clerk and post a bond, and the permit needs sign-off from both the Chief of Police and the Fire Chief or their designees.

The permit itself carries an identification number, specifies the type of fireworks authorized, and names one person authorized to purchase or otherwise order and receive delivery of the fireworks. , is barred outright on City property including City parks, City parking lots and City streets, and can't happen within 15 feet of any structure regardless of time or location. A conviction carries the general municipal penalty fixed by Chapter 1, § 1-5.
