MMC Chapter 8.08 allows State Fire Marshal-approved Safe and Sane fireworks within city limits only during the period beginning at noon on June 28 through midnight on July 4. Discharge is limited to private property or residential streets and is prohibited within 100 feet of any fireworks booth. Dangerous fireworks as defined by CA H&S Code Β§12505 are banned entirely. Sales permits are issued by the Fire Department ($350/year per stand); only local nonprofits with at least 20 resident members established in the city for at least one continuous year are eligible. Applications accepted November 1 through the first Friday of December.
