SMC Chapter 8.92 regulates fireworks in Stockton. Only fireworks bearing the State Fire Marshal 'Safe and Sane' seal are permitted. The 2022 ordinance (adopted June 14, 2022) imposed $1,000 fines for first offense use of illegal fireworks and established social host liability β property owners and tenants are liable for fireworks violations on their property. Safe and Sane fireworks sales are limited to 30 non-profit organizations selected by lottery, with sales beginning June 28 at noon. Any social host or person in custody of a minor is strictly liable for illegal fireworks use at their property or gathering under Β§8.92.015.
