The City of Orange permits Safe and Sane fireworks under OMC Chapter 8.13 as amended by Measure AA. Fireworks may not be used on public property (except residential sidewalks and streets) and must be discharged at least 10 feet from any structure.
OMC Chapter 8.13, amended by voter-approved Measure AA, allows the sale, possession, and use of Safe and Sane fireworks in the City of Orange subject to City Council regulations. Safe and Sane fireworks may not be used on public property including parks, highways, and publicly owned facilities, except residential sidewalks, alleys, and streets. Fireworks may not be discharged within 10 feet of any residence, dwelling, or structure. The City Council may prohibit sale and discharge in geographical areas determined to present a high fire risk. Only fireworks bearing the State Fire Marshal Safe and Sane seal are permitted. Illegal fireworks including aerial devices, firecrackers, and bottle rockets remain prohibited.
Violations carry fines up to $1,000. Use of illegal fireworks (not Safe and Sane) is a misdemeanor subject to additional penalties including arrest.
