Anaheim prohibits dangerous fireworks under AMC 6.40.020 and requires Fire Chief permits for sale or discharge. Safe-and-sane fireworks are regulated under AMC 6.40.030 and may only be discharged during permitted periods.
AMC Section 6.40.020 prohibits manufacturing, possessing, selling, storing, displaying, or discharging dangerous fireworks within Anaheim without a permit from the Fire Chief. Safe-and-sane fireworks are separately regulated under AMC Section 6.40.030 and may only be sold and discharged during specific permitted periods, typically around July 4th. Sales of safe-and-sane fireworks are limited to qualifying nonprofit organizations. Discharging fireworks during Red Flag Warnings or Santa Ana wind events is prohibited. All illegal fireworks complaints should be reported to Anaheim Police at 714-765-1900. The city conducts annual enforcement campaigns around Independence Day. Disneyland's nightly fireworks operate under separate permits and do not create a right for public fireworks use.
Dangerous fireworks possession: misdemeanor, fines up to $1,000. Discharge violation: citation. Illegal sales: misdemeanor with potential arrest.
