Under the Garden Grove Municipal Code fireworks regulations, only safe and sane fireworks bearing the California State Fire Marshal seal may be discharged on July 4 between 10 AM and 10 PM on private property. Illegal fireworks, including firecrackers, skyrockets, Roman candles, bottle rockets, and any device that leaves the ground or explodes, are prohibited year-round. The city enforces a zero-tolerance policy for illegal fireworks. Individuals caught using, possessing, or misusing fireworks are subject to a $1,000 administrative fine. The Garden Grove Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority conduct increased patrols on July 4.
Using or possessing illegal fireworks results in a $1,000 administrative fine. Misuse of safe and sane fireworks, including use outside the July 4 window or off private property, also carries a $1,000 fine. Additional criminal charges may apply.
