San Angelo bans fireworks entirely. Sec. 6.04.002 makes it unlawful to have, store, use, sell, or possess fireworks of any description within the city and up to 5,000 feet beyond the city limits. There is no legal window to discharge them.
San Angelo Code Sec. 6.04.002 prohibits the manufacture, sale, and discharge of fireworks and declares their presence a nuisance. It is unlawful to have, keep, store, use, manufacture, assemble, sell, handle, receive, offer for sale, or possess with intent to sell any fireworks of any description. The ban applies inside the city limits and in the 5,000-foot band immediately outside them, except where that band lies in another city. The city may also sue for an injunction. Narrow exceptions cover paper caps and similar novelty toys. Professional pyrotechnic displays require separate fire-marshal authorization.
Each violation is punishable by a fine under Sec. 1.01.009 (up to $2,000 for fire-safety offenses), and each day the violation continues is a separate offense. The city may also seek an injunction.
